Are you an experienced engineering manager with a passion for AI? Do you want to manage a team of talented engineers developing cutting-edge machine learning technology? If so, we want to hear from you! As part of this role, you will work closely with your team’s Tech Lead and Product Manager to enable your team's success, and you will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Create autonomous high-performing teams and deliver on the company strategy and roadmap
  • Be accountable for the technical and delivery outcomes for your team
  • Create a culture of ownership and accountability within your team. Push for decisions to be made effectively and remove blockers that impede team progress
  • Take ownership of developer velocity and health, and own, report, and optimise metrics for these.
  • Direct management of a team of 6-8 engineers, which includes:
  • Personal development plans for all engineers
  • Regular goal setting, future planning
  • Progression tracking
  • Performance tracking on an individual & team basis
  • Have an opportunity to shape Engineering Management alongside the VP Eng as the first hire in the role with a high level of autonomy

Requirements

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have at least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager
  • You have at least 2 years of engineering experience
  • You have developed people through goal setting, career plans and by creating an environment of continuous learning and improvement
  • You value emotional intelligence and are a calming and positive presence
  • You have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • You enjoy working with a remote; international team spread across different countries and time zones

It would be even better, but not essential, if:

  • You have a strong background in AI or Machine Learning
  • You have had experience as an Engineering Manager for a machine learning / AI/data team
  • You have delivered AI / Machine Learning products into production
